Are there not consequences to a Christian's sin/disobedience that may take restoring something that was not ones to take in the first place. Even though God has forgiven someone for their sin does that person still not have to do the work of obedience and return what was not theirs to take.

I beleive that we are making a mistake here by focusing on self forgiveness. We must remember that is not we who accuse ourselves it is in fact Satan wich the word says is the accuser of the bretheren. I think that this is just another idea that pop psycology has introduced to us. Its like the idea that we have to learn to love ourselves. These two ideas are against scripture and lead to a focus on self and not on God. You will not find the idea in Scripture that you must learn to love yourself. In the Revelation 12:1 And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.

We automaticaly love ourselves because of our selfish sinfull nature. Thats why Jesus said " Love your neighbor as yourself. Letting us know that we already love ourselves and that we must direct that love toward others.

This mentality also leads to more selfish relgious people who feel that all of life is centered around themselves. Condemnation comes as a result of wrong relationship with God not from ourselves. God commands us to love him with all of our heart, mind, and soul.

"Continuing in self-condemnation,..."

This is the sorrow of the world that worketh death.

The confession of sin and the assurance of pardon from Christ's ministers is a part of the church's ministry that if neglected will spiritually imperil and impoverish God's people.

Thanks for all of your articles!

I don't know how you are going to classify this essay, but I think it is tremendously helpful in everyday practical Christian living. I feel the same way about "Jesus Is Lord": A Practical Suggestion for Struggling with Sin, which is found in the Miscellaneous category. Thanks!
