Dear Brother, I want to thank you for this well thought out paper. I am a pastor in the Assemblies of God. As much as I love the spontaneous leading of the Spirit, I am often troubled by the immature prayer of people who have “known the Lord” for many years. I will be spending time studying this out further and seeking to incorporate these ideas into our discipleship program. Thanks again. Kevin Koop Senior...

All my life i understood that the Lord’s Supper was symbolic.To be truthful I never took communion in the Methodist church that i was raised in, because i knew that i was not born again and thus would not eat and drink the elements worthily. Years later,when i was born again in a Pentecostal church, i still assumed that the elements were largley symbolic as this made...
- April 15, 2008 at 6:34 am :: A Short Note on N. T. Wright & His Reformed Critics :: Andrew Yeoman
thanks for the article. The ‘in Christ’ theme has certainly been something I have been thinking alot about of late, especially in relation to salvation being our intiation into Him, and His people / body. My only question is regarding Wright’s approach to imputed righteousness, as I have read that he doesn’t believe it is God’s or Christ’s righteouness...

This is an excellent view of this portion of scripture. We are flesh and the works of the flesh are so contrary to the work of the Spirit. We are too use to the flesh and it’s coniving, scheming, cleverness that when faced with our sin and salvation many recoil and fight the Spirit. It is a difficult thing to abandon what we have relied on for so long as our hope (human, dead works) and repent...

Thank you for your essay on N.T. Wright’s interpretation of Pauline Justification. It helped me not only to understand Wright but to get a grasped of the justification controversy withing the Reformed community. Reformed theologians tend to have knee-jerk reaction to anything that remotely questions 16th and 17th century reformed formulations. I hope your essay enjoys a wide...
- April 6, 2008 at 6:22 am :: God’s Promises to the Jews :: Daniel
A very good word! I especially liked how you make it so clear that all the promises made to Israel and Judah are fulfilled in Christ and only through union with Him does anyone share in those promises.

“believe real hard that your saved.” Should that be “you’re” ?
- March 28, 2008 at 4:09 am :: Future Justification to the Doers of the Law :: Jim
The doers of the law in Romans are saved, New Covenant (the Spirit) people, who do the law (its morality) by the enablement of the indwelling Spirit of God. The other people in view are unsaved, Old Covenant (the letter) people, who cannot do the law (its morality), though they have outward circumcision and they have the law (the letter) and do its outward rituals. In Romans 2, Paul contrasts the saved (New...

I beleive that we are making a mistake here by focusing on self forgiveness. We must remember that is not we who accuse ourselves it is in fact Satan wich the word says is the accuser of the bretheren. I think that this is just another idea that pop psycology has introduced to us. Its like the idea that we have to learn to love ourselves. These two ideas are against scripture and lead...

You have provided an excellent context to re-read Wright. After reading much of Wright, I am just finishing a year-long Bible study by Dr. Harry Wendt of Crossways International. He follows much of Wright with the themes of Grace, the promises to Abraham, the Law which drew sin to Israel, the Mosaic Covenant seen throughout the Old Testament, and all of these seen in the life, death, resurrection and...

I came across this article when I searched for help for Christians stuggling with sin. I think it is something that may help me a lot with a particular problem I’m having. I remember about 10 years ago when I was first saved, how I would sometimes sense an evil presence and a feeling of fear. I would repeatedly say, “Jesus is my only Lord and I command any evil...

Mr Horne what happens to one who refuses their gift because there is no need to say that the giver would be offended first of all, but what would the case be for an atheist? because he denies his Lord, his only source of righteousness

Yes, but here “in the Lord” means NECM in the Lord not ECM in the Lord (ala GreenBaggins). Can we change our language to be more biblical? NECM= Christians who apostatise and ECM= Christians who persevere?
