People can’t handle how great they are.

Does the vainest person on earth really overvalue himself?

Imagine a man who insists that a leather seat is flawless when you can plainly see it has a crack.

The fact remains that he thinks the seat’s entire value rests in functioning as a chair when you see the steering wheel and the amazing race car that is actually meant to go places.

He’s doubly delusional and he undervalues what he has even as he boasts in it.

I love this and agree with the theme. My one question is, What about the command to not think of ourselves more highly than we ought?

    1. as I said: acknowledge that “the leather is cracked”

    2. Think of others as amazing, not just yourself. In that context, humility is an affirmation as much as a denial.

    3. As much as possible (given human bias) try to be a realist about your gifts, frailties, etc.
