Today is my Monday, though yesterday was no day of rest.

I’m completely wiped. I get done on Mondays at 9pm plus car trip back plus last minute errands plus weary brain-dead forgetfulness of errand details (milk) plus learning the second store to make up for forgetfulness is closed by 10pm.

But I got home with milk and martini cocktail mix and we finally put the vodka in the house to use. And fell asleep while watching a TV show (just one) before bed.

Here is more about our rather interesting day of firsts.

And I never got a chance to mention that Dad’s third chapter is published.

I’ve tried to drink martinis. You know, trying to be as cool as 007 (shaken, not stirred). But I’m pretty sure that I’d rather suck on the end of an extension cord than to drink a martini. The only way I’ve ever been able to even halfway enjoy one is to make it “dirty” (with lots of brine from the olive jar mixed in).

So, how’d you like it, Mark?

Our martinis were not traditional. They were watermelon martinis made with a store-bought mixer. They were yummy, but I imagine the recipe I have using fresh watermelon would be better. I just haven’t gotten to that, yet. The original martini would be too dry for me, I think. I imagine that would be the case for Mark, too. But I could be wrong.

You watermellon drinks sounds refreshing, it is not however a “martini”.

Gin + Vermouth (very little) + shake with ice + pour into glass with olive= Martini

Anything else is just a cocktail. Not that I object to cocktails mind, I just would rather that they not try to pass themselves off as something they are not.
