Yeah, I ran into a very devote RC who was totally against the HP books. She was saying it would leave your children open to demonic possession or something along those lines. They even went on to say that the Potter books were fundamentally different than Tolkien. It was quite a shock to hear.
Re the DC thing, the mid-Atlantic is pretty much the unhealthiest place in the country. We’re at or near the top for incidence of cancer, MS, and probably a host of other diseases. I think it’s the politics that poisons the atmosphere!
