[...] For those of you interested (or in need) of GTD (despite the deep weird), The GTD Wannabe blog has posted a review of the online gtd app, Nozbe. I’ve noticed Nozbe before, and think it is the right direction to go. I am more and more inclined to prefer online services to downloading new programs, when possible. [...]

Mark,

I was struck by your comment: "There was a time when a business man on a business trip could read a book or catch a nap on the train without feeling like he was shirking work."

It reminded me of Aristotle's famous notion that slaves were "living tools". Ironically, by seeing people almost solely in utilitarian terms, we have turned even well paid executives into something resembling living tools. The corporate world has become a barren land where people hope they can earn enough money to someday have a real life doing something else.

The other day I heard R.C. Sproul talking about how difficult he thought it would be to be a minister over the next 40 years. While R.C. is certainly correct, I think many ministers don't realize how difficult it is to be a Christian businessman in modern America.

Perhaps one of the great goals that we must pursue, as we work to disciple our own nation, will be the re-establishment of the dignity of the whole person along with the realization that life is more than producing and consuming.

I don't think that the origins of GTD really have any bearing on its usefulness. While it's probably best not to be too evangelical about an organization system, I have found some of its insights useful, as long as you recognize that you don't have to follow everything to the letter to benefit from it.

Right. Libertarians too (ever read Murray Rothbard on "The Rand Cult"?). But this is ususally purely a sociociological end result. Here it seems to be involved in the origins...

Of course, as I write this, it is making more sense to me. If your into this sort of cultish counseling, and need to make a living, it would be natural to notice the groupies and think that you would be a natural fit....

There is a certain cultish factor with the hard core groupies of any training system. You ought to go a horse training seminar by one of the big names in the horse world. It's no different. They all have their own vocabulary, their own symbolism (the wallet with a pen in it?) etc.
