Justin Taylor weighs in on Wright and the atonement. Excellent. I recently heard Piper speak [ugh, I originally wrote "pipe up" before I realized what I was doing] to defend Wright on the same issue. While I disagree with Piper (and Taylor?) on various issues related to Wright, it is wonderful to see judicious analysis [...]

It has got to be good for me. When I was at seminary I would have told Joe Christian that Presbyterians were the scholars of American Evangelicalism (actually, that might be tragically true)–that they were the intellectual high point of American Bible-believing Christians. I was proud to be a Presbyterian.
So stuff like this, [...]

For a long long time I have been meaning to review this book. I thought I should read it because it is virtually “canon” when it comes to vampire fiction…
I don’t know that I am going to finish it. I am certain it is not worth much of a review. (Strange sentiments [...]

No, I haven’t gotten that much further in the report. But along the lines of the citation error I mentioned, Doug found another case where a statement is footnoted with evidence that proves the opposite of what the report asserts. The whole post is worth reading, but I’ll reproduce this one part:

The Dawn Patrol: Guest Post: Aborton deception
A prominent member of the abortion rights movement said today that he lied in earlier statements when he said a controversial form of late-term abortion is rare and performed primarily to save the lives or fertility of women bearing severely malformed bab

…thanks to all the great press recently, I figure I’d better post something entertaining. So here is something we’ve done before but it may be NEW TO YOU.
A communion hymn for you to listen to.
If you can’t understand them, here are the lyrics.
And while I’m thinking about it, since the SBC is doing its [...]

I just wrote a reply to this, but have no idea if it will publish. Here is what I wrote:
The “Federal Vision” was a conference on Covenant Theology (Federal = Covenant / Vision = Theology). In that conference a robust and Biblical Covenant Theology was extolled over against a later traditional “revivalistic pietism.” The speakers [...]

This was a phenomenal read. At some point, Steve mentions that writers read all the time and, at that point I sort of took a break from the book and started reading more fiction. Then when I came to the book I realized he himself had taken a long break in writing the [...]

I. A. 2. Covenant
The report claims “The Westminster Standards set forth a bi-covenantal structure of federal theology” but this is not the false Klinean view, but the orthodox (and, yes, confessional) view of “covenant of works before the Fall and a covenant of grace after the Fall.” The report is gratifyingly clear on this [...]

OK, I’d like some interaction if I’ve missed anything, because I am busy with stuff, even though I decided to take some time to start the report.
First, I’ve read I. A. 1 on Election in the Westminster Standards. I don’t see anything wrong with it. It is standard Reformed theology. I have to say that [...]

OK, I don’t want to do much more than point out the citation issue here, because I’m still working on the report. It says:
some also proclaim that both elect and non-elect in the local church receive qualitatively the same grace. As Rich Lusk observed, “We need to be willing to speak of the undifferentiated [...]

This post was marginal to begin with, but now I am confident it has no bearing on the Virginia Tech matter. I leave it up only because I think the issues are important. They just don’t have relevance to the event.

Here it is.
Seems pretty careful from what I can tell. A couple of extracts with comments:
Key in the present discussion is the definition of doctrines that have been crucial to our identity as a biblical and confessional church. In the PCA, we use theological terms such as “regeneration,” “election,” “justification,” and “perseverance” to [...]
