Common sense would say that the price should come down for a new product. Eventually I suppose that will happen, but I’m surprised to learn that the new Xbox is being sold for less than production cost. Of course, I shouldn’t be that surprised. We get all sorts of freebies in softwear and elsewhere from vendors hoping to sell us something and to use the gift as a foot in the door to our wallets.
In this case, the profitability will come from games. At least that’s the plan.
Actaully, most video game consoles are sold at a loss, with the manufacturers hoping to recoup costs in game sales. Kinda odd, but par for the course.
Hmmm, is someone or some little ones getting an XBOX for Christmas?! or is this YOUR birthday/christmas wish? Either way, I’m all for it, you know how much I love games. I’m still waiting for our BopIt Challenge 😀
No, no. I’m hoping to get the old Xbox when everyone’s ditching it for the new one so that I can play Halo 2 with the boys. They’re good enough on the iMac now that I can’t really keep them in place when i use the laptop as my console. Aiming anything narrower than a shotgun with a touchpad is pretty difficult, and the mouse-user has a huge advantage at close range.
And I concede now on the bopit!
Get a Nintendo DS with Mario Kart. Best bang for your buck evar.
